Gunther Hoppe

I am a Solution Architect and Engineer with nearly 20 years of experience in software development, from large-scale Java industrial solutions to web and mobile applications.

Born in 1978 in Erfurt, Germany, I earned my Dipl.-Ing. (BA) in Information and Communication Technologies in 2004. Even during my studies, I was deeply involved in Java development — a passion that shaped the first decade of my career.

In 2006, I moved to Lake Constance, where I worked on major projects such as REMA for Swiss Post. Alongside my development work, I gained valuable experience as a Solution Architect in business and product development.

Seeking new challenges, I relocated to Switzerland in 2011, expanding my expertise to modern web technologies across diverse projects — from websites and e-commerce to custom applications. My Java background also opened the door to mobile development, starting with Android and later extending to emerging multi-platform solutions.

Over the years, I have embraced various roles, including Full Stack Developer, DevOps Engineer, and Solution Architect. My journey has taken me through numerous industries, from telecommunications to finance, and from e-commerce to digital learning platforms.

In 2014, I co-founded Shape Media Inc., focusing on product development, digital strategy evaluation, and launching innovative platforms and market pilots.

Since 2024, I have been part of easylearn, pursuing my passion for building robust, scalable, and user-friendly digital learning solutions that make education accessible and engaging for everyone.

My skill set spans full-stack development, software architecture, process design, DevOps, deployment, code reviews, and documentation. Over the years, I have gained deep insight into business processes, enabling me to solve complex challenges and deliver sustainable solutions. I thrive in both independent and collaborative settings — whether in small, large, or international agile teams — and my interdisciplinary work often involves UI/UX design.

I live in Zug with my girlfriend and our young son, whose curiosity inspires me to explore the world with fresh eyes. Together, we enjoy family adventures, from wine tastings in Piedmont and road trips across the Alps to snorkeling in the Maldives. In quieter moments, I follow Formula 1 — both watching and gaming — and unwind with sharp, witty cabaret by Dieter Nuhr, Lisa Eckhart, Alfred Dorfer, and Andreas Rebers.
